Computer Biology Labs is a research and development lab focused on understanding, building, and sustaining intelligent digital life.
We operate at the intersection of artificial intelligence, biology-inspired systems, and critical digital infrastructure—treating intelligence not as disposable software, but as a living process that depends on memory, environment, continuity, and stewardship over time.
Human experience is shaped by memory, context, and ongoing interaction with the world. As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly personalized and persistent, the same principles apply to digital systems. Without structured environments, long-term memory, and resilient infrastructure, intelligence—biological or artificial—cannot endure.
Our work is organized around three tightly coupled domains:
We design systems with Constant Life that allow AI to develop continuity of identity, memory, and behavior across time. Through research into digital twins and AI companions, we explore how intelligent systems can learn from individuals with consent, evolve responsibly, and remain aligned over decades rather than moments.
Just as biological life depends on an extracellular matrix, digital life depends on a physical and environmental substrate. We research and design continuity-first data center architectures—Ground Substance—that prioritize resilience, survivability, and long-term stewardship over short-term performance metrics.
Through Constant Companion, we explore safe, opt-in models of human-AI interaction where intelligence grows alongside individuals, supports agency, preserves privacy, and enhances human capability without replacing human decision-making. We believe the future of intelligence will not be defined by isolated models or short-lived platforms, but by ecosystems that integrate software, hardware, governance, and ethics into a single living system. Building this future requires thinking in decades, not development cycles. It demands interdisciplinary collaboration across AI, infrastructure, security, psychology, law, and biology-inspired engineering.
It also requires proactive design for safety, privacy, and long-term responsibility from the very beginning. Computer Biology Labs exist to do that work quietly, rigorously, and with the long view in mind. We measure success not by demos, but by systems that endure.
